8" x 5.5". 360pp. Green decorated cloth, with gilt lettering. Spine lightly faded, small spot on the bottom of the front board, small but irritating scrape along the fore edge. Despite these issues still a VG+ condition copy. Second printing, issued one month after the first. This copy signed in full by the author along with his trademark pawprint glyph, and additionally signed by his wife and sometime collaborator Julia Seton. Scarce thus. With numerous full page and margin illustrations by the author.

(We have not removed it from the matting.) A classic Curtis image showing three men on horseback with ornate headdresses / feathered warbonnets.

With the $5.95 price intact on the jacket flap. This example is a review copy, with the FSG slip laid in, as well as a separate publisher's slip showing one of the Sendak illustrations. Also laid in to this copy is a bookplate signed by Sendak. (It is NOT mounted into the book.) The book is a charming children's tale, with illustrations by Maurice Sendak. See Hanrahan A 95.
