Overall a VG+ copy. With the usual black & white illustrations after photographs of students, sports teams & clubs, etc. This edition of this yearbook was the senior year of Robert Edward Galer. Galer was a legendary Marine Corps fighter pilot and later Brigadier General. He won the Medal of Honor "for conspicuous heroism and courage above and beyond the call of duty as leader of a marine fighter squadron in aerial combat with enemy Japanese forces in the Solomon Islands area." He individually shot down 11 enemy bomber and fighter aircraft over a period of 29 days. Galer was also awarded the Navy Cross, Legion of Merit with Combat "V," Distinguished Flying Cross with one Gold Star, Purple Heart, Air Medal with 10 Gold Stars, and the British Distinguished Flying Cross. This yearbook has Galer's autograph twice as 'Bob Galer' in the basketball team section of the yearbook. Hardcover (Item ID: 6879)
