This copy bears an 1866 gift inscription from Theodore Thornton Munger to his wife. Munger was a prominent 19th century American theologian, known as 'The Prophet of the Freedom of Faith.' This copy also bears the Anthony Euwer designed bookplate of Munger's son, Thronton Taft Mnger, who was an official with the National Park Service for many years.
